My research sits at the intersection of addiction health services, public policy, and computational data science. I study how health systems can better support people with substance use disorders, particularly by creating informatics solutions that measure care delivery at-scale and identifying systemic gaps in treatment access.
Research interests
Mental / behavioral health services: access to and quality of care for people with opioid and other substance use disorders, including the structural, insurance-related, and geographic factors that shape treatment access and patient outcomes.
Electronic health records and administrative data: using large, real-world datasets to understand care pathways, health-care teams, and barriers to treatment.
Balancing patient outcomes with team outcomes: healthcare burnout is high and increasing. While patients deserve high-quality care, their care delivery is situated in systems that are unsustainable for their care teams. I am interested in solutions that balance and optimize both patient-centered and healthcare professional-centered outcomes, such as burnout, workload, “pajama time”, and turnover.
